Chapter One

It was just before noon on Saturday and I was out in my workshop working on a new project when the door suddenly flew open and my brother David came rushing in.

"Ian, we've got company coming and they are about 2 miles out."

"Yea  they popped up on the security screens and we have been watching them for about 5 minutes now."

"Renee, I think it is time to let them know what it is really like when they try to come after us and our family."

8 months earlier...
My family and I were returning home from our annual spring trip to Minnesota and I was sitting quietly with my eyes closed as the plane landed smoothly on the runway and taxied to the terminal.  We were seated at the back of the plane and had to wait for the other passengers to deplane.

As we sat waiting, my twin sister Renee and I were talking.  Over the years my sister and I had developed a way of communicating not only by talking but could see in each others eyes what the other one was thinking. We were sitting there talking when all of a sudden we both grew silent. There was change in the air and we could both feel it.

Renee and I, along with our parents, found out at a young age  that we were not the "normal" neighborhood kid.  We found that we had what seemed to be unnatural strength, speed, agility, and intelligence that surpassed most. When something wasn't right or either one of us was in trouble we  were able to sense it before it happened.  And today was one of those days.

I looked at Renee and said "Something is different and I have a feeling it is not going to be good."

"I know, Ian, I can feel it too."

By this time we were walking through the airport to the baggage claim area.  As we walked Renee and I kept an eye out for anything we found to be out of the ordinary.  Over the years we had made ourselves into the protecters of the family, and they had become very protective of us as well. They had become more protective ever since David had gone into the Marines, keeping our intelligence and abilities a low profile as much as possible.  We got the usual looks and stares, but nothing here in the airport seemed to be out of the norm.

When we got to the baggage claim area Renee and I went to get the car.  As we got closer the alarms we had programmed into our phones to let us know when someone tried to tamper with the car started to go off.  So we stopped and turned the cameras on our phones on and scanned the area around the car.  As we scanned the area we noticed what looked to be shadows of a couple of people hidden by a vehicle about five cars down from where ours was parked.

"Looks like someone has caught on to what we do and who we are, because it looks like we have some company waiting on us."

"I see them too, Ian. Looks like we will have to get the other car. I scanned the area around that one and it looks like nobody has found it."

"I am scanning it as well and it looks to be secure.  We will just have to be careful and make sure they do not follow us to the other car."

We were able to keep an eye on them and made it to the car without them seeing where we had gone.
While I was driving the car back to the baggage claim area to pick up the others, Renee informed them of the switch and they were waiting for us when we got there.

Once we had all the luggage in and everybody was in the car my dad took over driving so we could keep a better eye out for whoever it was waiting for us. As we were driving past the last parking garage entrance we noticed that there were two people standing just inside looking out and watching us as we went by. I was watching them on the security screen on my laptop, that I was now using, and it  looked as though they were trying to take a photo or video of us as we went by and so I freeze framed a shot of them so that we could analyze it when we got home.

"It seems as though we were right about our senses, Renee."

"Yea and it looks as though they are trying to follow us. We had better be on our guard more than in the past."
